Ovulation Induction

What is the Intrauterine Insemination?

This entails the direct insertion of the sperm into the uterus during the time of ovulation. This aids in reducing the distance that the sperm have to cover in order to reach the ovum. This increases their possibilities of being fertilized. Above all, most cases involve IUI, which takes place at the same time as the ovulation induction. This procedure is easy, simple, and not so intimidating. Individuals feel comfortable the moment they can be explained to. It is therefore understandable to feel apprehensive. This easy procedure gives people the courage to try when they want to conceive.

Who is it Recommended For?

IUI in cases of mild male factor infertility, unexplained infertility, or cervical problems. Indicated in women with mild problems of ovulation. Generally tried before IVF since it is minimally invasive. IUI cycles also teach us about ovulation timing and sperm behavior, hence helping plan future treatments.

How is the Procedure Done?

  • Follow ovulation by ultrasound and hormone measurements
  • Prepare the sperm in the laboratory, selecting the healthiest ones
  • Insert sperm into the uterus through a soft catheter
  • Rest for a short time after the procedure
  • Pregnancy test after about two weeks

Benefits, Risks & Success Rate

The ovulation induction process is a safe procedure. Cramping, bloating, and spotting are possible. However, this is not a major problem. The rate of successful ovulation for a couple depends on their ages, the potential for ovulation, and their fertility. Most females manage to conceive after trying this multiple times. Through this practice, a woman gets to know herself.
